Rev. Dr. Randy M. Haynes is a native son of Greenville, Mississippi. Having relocated to Boston, Massachusetts early in life, he graduated from the Boston Public Schools. Subsequently, he earned a BA in Theology, a Master’s degree in Ministry, and a Doctorate in Ministry. He is the son of the late Rev. Dr. Michael E. Haynes, who was Boston’s Dean of the Clergy and longtime Pastor of the historic Twelfth Baptist Church of Boston.

Pastor Haynes has served with distinction for years in ministry leadership over a broad spectrum, including children and youth, young adults, choral music, senior adults, and biblical education. With forty years of ministerial experience, Pastor Haynes has become known as an exceptional teacher and preacher. After moving to Virginia in 2006, he became the founding Pastor of an exciting church plant known as Open the Book Ministries, Inc. Having retired as the senior pastor, he now serves as the Overseer of that ministry which is now known as The Word Church 2.0 of Virginia. Additionally, Pastor Haynes served as a Teaching Pastor at Christian Fellowship Church in Ashburn, Virginia and as a Consultant for NorthStar Church Network in Northern Virginia.

Before full-time ministry, Pastor Haynes had a distinguished career as a criminal justice official, which included an appointment as a Chief of Probation for the Massachusetts Trial Court. Pastor Haynes was a frequent lecturer at colleges and universities throughout New England as a recognized authority on juvenile delinquency, substance abuse and treatment, and community policing. He also served on Curry College’s faculty in Milton, Massachusetts as an adjunct professor and taught criminal justice courses in the sociology department. Having served on multiple social, welfare, and criminal justice agencies and boards, Pastor Haynes sought to uplift poor and disenfranchised people in the community where he came of age.

For thirty-three years, Pastor Haynes has been married to a dynamic woman of God, Lisa J. Haynes, and they are the parents of eight adult children and a growing tribe of grandchildren.
